Memorial Culture (2017, work in progress)

An ongoing research on memorial culture and specifically the borderline interactions between everyday objects and memorial places. In modern culture death often is a taboo subject and therefore it’s interesting to watch how its rituals are performed using the mundane objects that can be obtained from the nearest supermarket. There are things that one just does not expect to see at the cemeteries – barcodes on plastic flowers, tombstones sale catalogue, funeral house’s slogan saying ‘We are the best’, the same photo frames as in the lingerie shop window – they all do not belong there because they are from another world, the world of living.
